The Club - Venue & Equipment

The following equipment is available: Venue, Floor, Vault, Rings, Beam, High Bar, Pommel Horse, Uneven Bars, Parallel Bars, Tumble Tramp, Foam Pits.

Our fully equiped gymnastics center contains all Men's and Women's Olympic apparatus and some special training aids.

The venue includes;

  • Viewing/waiting area
  • Fully Sprung, Olympic Standard Floor Area
  • Pommel Area including Olympic Standard Horse plus Buck and Mushrooms etc
  • Olympic Standard Vault Run, Vaulting Tables and Landing Area
  • Tumble Trampoline into pit
  • Fully Sprung Tumble Run
  • Horizontal Bars for conditioning and basic skill training

Floor


A floor exercise is composed predominantly of acrobatic elements combined with other gymnastic elements such as strength and balance parts, elements of flexibility, handstands and choreographic combinations all forming a harmonious rhythmic exercise which is preformed utilising the entire floor exercise area (12m x 12m).
Vault


The vault is one of two apparatus common to both men's and women's gymnastics. Each vault begins with a run and a take off from both feet (with or without a round off) to the vault board with legs together and is executed with a brief support phase on the table with one or two hands. The vault may contain single or multiple turns around the two axes of the body.

An exercise on the rings is composed of swing, strength and hold parts in approximately equal portions. These parts and combinations are executed in a hang position, to or through a support position, or to or through the handstand position, and execution with straight arms should be predominant. Contemporary gymnastic exercises are characterised by transitions between elements of swing and strength or the reverse. The swinging of the cables and the crossing of the cables are not permitted.    

Beam


Perhaps the most dramatic piece of apparatus in women's gymnastics is the beam, a band 10 cm wide and 5 meters long, on which competitors perform daring exercises, while perched at 1.25 meters above the floor. Routines must include a variety of acrobatic elements, such as jumps and leaps, turns, step, combinations of walking and running steps, as well as wave and balance elements performed in a standing, sitting or lying position. The gymnast must use the entire length of the apparatus, while expressing simultaneously elegance, flexibility, confidence and self control. The maximum required time for the beam exercise is 1 minute and 30 seconds.
 

High Bar


A contemporary High Bar (Horizontal Bar) exercise must be a dynamic presentation that consists entirely of the fluid connection of swinging, turning and flight elements alternating between elements performed near to and far from the bar in a variety of hand grips so as to demonstrate the full potential of the apparatus.

Pommel Horse


A contemporary Pommel Horse exercise is characterised by different types of circular swings with legs apart and together in a variety of support positions on all parts of the horse, single leg swings and/or scissors. Swings through the handstand position, with or without turns, are permitted. All elements must be executed with swing and without the slightest interruption of the exercise. Strength and hold elements are not permitted.
Uneven Bars


The uneven bars are a gymnastics apparatus only used by female gymnasts. Bars are by far the hardest event for the majority of all women gymnasts; bars take a great amount of upper body and core strength.

Gymnasts perform swinging, circling, transitional, and release techniques, as well as handstands on 2 wooden bars at different heights. At the end of a routine the gymnast usually releases the upper bar with a spectacular dismount and lands on both feet.
Parallel Bars


A contemporary parallel bar exercise consists predominantly of swing and flight elements selected from all available element groups and performed with continuous transitions through various hang and support positions in such a way as to reflect the full potential of the apparatus.  
Tumble Tramp


Our tumble tramp leads into the one of our pits. This makes for great fun trying new things or for improving skills.

Foam Pits


One of the most popular aspects of the gym!!!

Fantastic to have fun in but also a very important training aid. Gymnasts can practice and perfect skills into the pit before moving the skills onto the apparatus.
